Julie Anne Quay

Founder, VFILES

Founder of fashion digital community VFILES and president of Colac Pictures, Julie Anne is a Co-Founder of the Australian Fashion Foundation. Previously, Julie Anne was executive editor of V Magazine and ran the studio for prolific fashion photographer Steven Meisel. Australian Vogue, Estee Lauder, Vogue Japan, Marc Jacobs and Richard Avedon are other stops on her career. An Australian native, from Balwyn Victoria, Julie Anne now resides in New York.

Malcolm Carfrae

Founder and Principal, Carfrae Consulting

Malcolm Carfrae was born in Sydney, Australia and educated at both the University of Sydney and the University of California at Berkeley, where he achieved his Master’s Degree in History. Carfrae began his career in communications at Bryan Morel Public Relations in London, where he oversaw multiple fashion, beauty and lifestyle brands.

In 2003 Carfrae relocated to New York City as Vice President of Public Relations at Calvin Klein, Inc. In 2008, he was promoted to Executive Vice President and Chief Communications Officer, overseeing all communications for all Calvin Klein Inc brands globally. In 2014, Carfrae joined Ralph Lauren as Global Head of Communications, Public Relations and Media, overseeing communications and media globally for the company. Carfrae left Ralph Lauren in May 2016 to establish Carfrae Consulting, a global branding and strategic communications consulting firm based in New York City. Drawing on his expertise in worldwide communications, media, marketing and brand building over the past twenty years, Carfrae works closely with clients in the fashion, retail, luxury, shelter and travel sectors to create bespoke strategies to achieve global recognition and success.

In addition to co-founding the Australian Fashion Foundation, Carfrae is a mentor for Incubator program of the Council of Fashion Designers of America and is on the Board of the Australian Fashion Chamber.

Kara Hurry

Board Member, AUSFF

Kara Hurry is a Marketing Communicaitons specialist who has worked on projects across Europe, USA, Canada, China, Japan, Korea and Hong Kong.

Presently residing back in our homeland of Australia, Kara is the Global Marketing Director for iconic Australian brand R.M.Williams. She has previously worked as Communications Manager for Louis Vuitton, Marketing Manager Northern Hemisphere for The Woolmark Company, and led global marketing for niche cycling brands Cannonade and SUGOI. 

In addition to working amongst the world of fashion, Kara also sits as a Board Director for Cure Cancer Australia.
 

Nancy Pilcher

Board Member, AUSFF

Nancy Pilcher has spent 40 years as an icon of Australian fashion. The former VOGUE Australia Editor-in-Chief and Editorial Director of Conde Nast Asia-Pacific has been an international ambassador for Australian fashion and culture. Nancy is also credited as being responsible for Conde Nast’s successful foray into the Asia-Pacific markets in China, Japan, Korea, Taiwan and Thailand.

Nancy received the title of Australian Fashion Laureate for 2015/2016 for her contribution to Australian fashion. Currently, Nancy is consulting and mentoring young Australian designers.

Robert Newbould

Board Member, AUSFF

Rob Newbould grew up in Mollymook, NSW. After studying Architecture, he took a different path and assisted fashion photographers in Sydney and London. Moving back to Sydney he then went into management, working with models, hair stylists, makeup artists, fashion stylists, set designers, photographers and directors, throughout his career. Rob currently manages names such as: David LaChapelle, Francois Nars, Sarah Moon, Jack Pierson, Koto Bolofo, Brett Ratner and director's Marco Brambilla and Dikayl Rimmasch.

Georgia Lazzaro

BOARD MEMBER, AUSFF

Georgia Lazzaro was the inaugural recipient of the AUSFF Award in 2009 following the completion of a B.A. in Design (Fashion) from RMIT University and a B.A in Fine Art from Monash University.  

In 2010 she was chosen to join in the annual AUSFF Award selection process and serve as a mentor to finalists and winners.  

Living and working as a designer in New York since 2010, Georgia has held key positions at Narciso Rodriguez, Calvin Klein Collection and Protagonist. 

She currently works as an independent design and creative consultant with an emphasis on sustainable practices.
